Staff in Attendance: Kate Sullivan, Delacorte Press; Erin Young, Dystel, Goderich, and Bourret LLC; Estelle Laure, YA author of This Raging Light and But Then I Came Back; Steve Bramucci, MG author of The Danger Gang & the Pirates of Borneo! Hope to see you there! Register here. And read on for more awesome events you won’t want to miss!
Technology Mini Seminar
We’re also kicking off the 2017/18 year for the SoCal illustrators. It began with a mini-seminar guided by computer whiz, John Dadlez, who gave an overview of working with WordPress blogs and Wordpress.com. In the works are hands-on workshops where we will put theory into practice! These workshops are TBA.
We are delighted to announce our first Book Arts Mini Seminar with Salina Yoon on Saturday, June 3, 2017, 10 am to Noon, at Once Upon A Storybook bookstore, 17300 17th St C, Tustin, CA 92780.
Prolific and award-winning author and illustrator, Salina Yoon, will share how she pursued the children’s book market in a proactive way that led to publishing over 160 books throughout her career thus far. She will share her process for book development, which will be insightful for both writers and illustrators. Physical book dummies will be shared, as well as the unique ways in which she submitted books prior to having an agent. Plus, Salina will lead a hands-on book dummy and story creating activity that will spark your imagination! No art experience necessary. Space is limited for this exciting mini-seminar. (Materials needed: red marker [fat to medium nib is best] and pencil.)
August/September launches our bi-annual Imagine 2: Children’s Illustrators Exhibition. Submissions for this amazing gallery show will start in May, 2017.
